Reza Khoshbin
my CV

Reza was born in a small family in Tehran. He studied from primary to high school in Tehran. He entered Semnan University as a chemical engineering student in mineral of chemical industries field in 2004. He started master of science degree at Sahand University of Technology in thermo-kinetic field in 2008. He did his M.Sc. thesis under supervision of Dr. Mohammad Haghighi, with a topic of " Synthesis of Copper and Zinc Oxide Nanocatalysts Based On HZSM-5 Support for Direct Conversion of Synthesis Gas to Dimethyl Ether”.

Thesis title:           Synthesis of Copper and Zinc Oxide Nanocatalysts Based On HZSM-5 Support for Direct Conversion of Synthesis Gas to Dimethyl Ether
Supervisor:
Dr. Mohammad Haghighi
Co-Supervisor:
Dr. Masoumeh Khatamian
Thesis abstract:

Dimethyl ether is one of the valuable chemicals that can be produced from natural gas. This chemical can be asigned for use as a fuel in the power plants, substituting for LPG markets and fuel cells. Nowadays, DME is produced commercially by dehydration of methanol over solid acid catalysts. In recent method, it produced from syngas in one reactor over bifunctional catalysts. Direct conversion of syngas to DME process (STD) not only causes to decreas the production cost but also leads to eleminate the equlibrium limitaion of methanol synthesis reaction. For achievment of suitable catalyst for STD process, this thesis was planed in 3 sections in Reactor and Catalysis Research Center of Sahand University of technology. At first, thermodynamical analysis of STD process was carried out by Gibbs free energy minimization method. At the second stage, CuO-ZnO-Al2O3/HZSM-5 was preapared by coprecipitation, coprecipitation-physically mixing and impregnation techniques. In continue, effect of acidic site on catalytic performance, was investigated using clinoptilolite zeolite. Ultimately the effect of using the ultrasound energy on catalyst preparation was evaluated. Results obtained from XRD, FE-SEM, BET and FTIR analysis showed that preparation method has a great influence on the physicochemical properties of catatalyst such as relative crystalinity, specific surface area and morphology.

   Reza Khoshbin

The catalyst prepared through coprecipitation-ultrasound route composed nanoscale particles that average size of metal oxide phase over HZSM-5 was around 47.86 nm and over the 95% of particles were lower than 100nm. Consequently, activity tests showed that coprecipitation was shown better performance in compare of impregnation and coprecipitation-physically mixing methods. Also activity of HZSM-5 supported catalysts was higher than clinoptilolite supported catalyst. Moreover by using of sonochemical technique, catalytic performance increased greatly.
