Parisa Jabbarnezhad

Parisa was born in August of 1986 in Sarab one of cities of Eastern Azerbaijan province. After her preliminary educations at this city, she entered Imam Khomeini International University of Technology for academic studies of ”Solid State Physics”. She had Interested the chemical engineering field so she continued her master of science degree at Sahand University of ”Technology in chemical engineering”. At the moment she is doing her M.Sc. thesis under supervision of Dr. Mohammad Haghighi, with a topic of "Synthesis and Evaluation of Supported Mo Nanocatalysts on ZrO2-Al2O3 as Hydrodesulfurization Catalyst".

Thesis title:          Synthesis and Evaluation of Supported Mo Nanocatalysts on ZrO2-AL2O3 as Hydrodesulfurization Catalyst
Supervisor:
Dr. Mohammad Haghighi
Thesis abstract:

Improvement of the catalytic performances of hydrodesulfurization catalysts is necessary to comply with the new worldwide strict environmental legislations concerning sulfur content in fuels. The present thesis was done in Reactor and catalyst Research center of Sahand University of technology which investigated the effect of support and synthesis method on the hydrodesulfurization activity of NiMo catalyst. At first A series of Al2O3-ZrO2 composite oxides with different ZrO2 contents was prepared by means of a chemical precipitation method using ZrOCl2•8H2O and pseudoboehmite as starting materials. Then NiMo hydrodesulfurization catalysts supported on mixed Al2O3-ZrO2 oxides have been prepared via impregnation and sonochemical methods. The structures of the samples have been investigated by several techniques including XRD, FE-SEM, BET, and FTIR. The results showed that the composite supports existed as amorphous phase in the samples with in sufficient contents of ZrO2. The catalysts prepared through sonochemical method composed nanoscal particles with smaller size and uniform distribution than impregnated catalyst. The sulfided NiMo/Al2O3-ZrO2 catalysts were tested in the hydrodesulfurization reaction of thiophene.

   Parisa Jabbarnezhad

The results showed that the Al2O3-ZrO2 supported NiMo catalysts exhibited much higher catalytic activities than that of Al2O3-supported one and when the ZrO2 content was 12%, the NiMo/Al2O3–ZrO2 catalysts presented the highest hydrodesufurization activities. Also the sonochemically synthesized catalyst exhibit a Hydrodesulfurization activity higher than that of catalysts prepared by a conventional impregnation method.
